DTB Exclusive Interview: JoeySuki

Hailing from Tilburg, Holland, JoeySuki is no stranger in the electronic dance music scene having more than 50 releases in the past five years. We recently talked with JoeySuki for an exclusive interview where he discuses his new Dubbed Record label, his upcoming releases, and where he is most excited to perform at later this year. Get to know JoeySuki in our interview below and listen to a collection of remixes to his own original track “Aftermovie,” which are soon to be released on his own Dubbed Records.

1. For the uninitiated, what’s your career been like up until this point?

JS: It’s been one hell of a ride haha full of ups and downs but even at the down points I loved every minute of it. I’m very happy to live from my hobby!

2. Why did you decide to start your own record label and is there a meaning behind the word “Dubbed?”

JS: I decided to start my own label because I have a concept called “suki likes” which means that young / undiscovered producers can send me their tracks and I give them feedback. I choose 1 track every month and I play that track in my monthly podcast! So I have a platform to let people hear the music but not actually buy it or stream it on Youtube or Spotify etc. Thats when I decided to start my own label to support the young producers and give them a ‘real platform’. Dubbed is from the ‚dub mixes’ on a record. It means clubby and without vocals.

3. Which producers/releases are you most excited about with your label?

JS: I’m a big fan of the tracks from Matt & Kendo and i’m really excited to have signed for an official anthem for a big festival!

4. Can you tell us about any other exciting releases you have planned for 2014?

JS: Yes of course! I’ve got a release coming up on Ultra Records which i’m really excited about, the remixes of my track Aftermovie will be out on my label Dubbed Records soon! And I’m going back to my roots and will be discovering some deeper styles in the near future haha.

5. What were some of your favorite highlights in Miami this year?

JS: The Big Beat pool party and Ultra of course. This was the first WMC for me and I already can’t wait to go back next year! Loved it.

6. Which shows/festivals are you looking forward to playing the most this year?

JS: Really looking forward to play at Creamfields on the Revealed Recordings stage but Tomorrowland is one of the biggies as well this summer!

7. Anything else you would like to tell your fans?

JS: Thanks for all the support you guys have been giving me in the last years. You must know that this is the biggest inspiration of all!! THANK YOU.
