Over Labor Day Weekend, Insomniac Event’s Factory 93 and HEKATE Records joined forces to deliver two electrifying nights of hard techno in Downtown Los Angeles, headlined by none other than the high priestess of hard techno, Sara Landry. Night one featured a musical lineup including Selective Response, Raven, Farrago, and Charlie Sparks, while night two featured Jenna Shaw, AK Sports, and Godtripper. Both nights were a complete sell out and we were lucky enough to attend night two, which also included an extended set by Sara Landry.
The show took place at Factory 93’s outdoor venue on Anderson St, which many techno fans may be familiar with. The stage setup for this show was an immersive experience for fans who were lucky enough to get backstage access. Behind the DJ booth was a massive two-level cage with LED screens across the entire back wall of each. Fans could walk up stairs to access either cage to dance and watch Sara Landry from above while viewing the entire packed crowd. From the crowd’s point of view, it looked like a bunch of human silhouettes as the LED screens and lasers flashed into the crowd.
The night kicked off with a set by Jenna Shaw, who set the tone with deep, pulsating beats that got the early crowd moving. Next up was AK Sports, whose high-energy mix of techno raised the intensity, setting the stage for the more intense sounds to come. The mysterious Godtripper then took control, dialing up the atmosphere with a darker, industrial edge that perfectly primed the audience. Sara Landry joined Godtripper on stage during her set to dance and hype up the crowd as the stage filled up with fans around the DJ booth.
Finally, Sara Landry took over the decks, commanding the venue with her signature brand of relentless, hard-hitting techno. For the next three hours, she delivered an extended set that was nothing short of a masterclass in how to captivate an audience. She played a ton of remixes and unreleased IDs that we are dying to hear again. She also dropped her heavy hitters “Heaven”, “Prisoner” and “Pressure” from her upcoming album release next month. The night was an absolute blast and Sara Landry really proved why she calls herself the high priestess of hard techno. If you’re a techno fan, Sara Landry needs to be on the top of your list of DJs to see next.
Sara Landry just recently announced her highly anticipated debut album, Spiritual Driveby, set to release on October 4th via her own label, HEKATE. Fans of her dark, driving sound won’t want to miss this one with collaborations from Godtripper, Mike Dean, Nico Moreno, Shlømo, Aaron Hibell, LEGZDINA, Alex Farell and more.
