Review: Lucky Date @ The Belasco 7/26/12

On Thursday July 26th 2012, Lucky Date along with the Mighty Fools took over The Belasco for a night of electro house fun. We had not seen Lucky Date or the Mighty Fools so like a lot of others we were very excited for the event. Click through the break for the full review.

The Belasco is a nightclub in Downtown Los Angeles that has just gone through an incredible restoration. After it’s reopening it has been booming with EDM events with DJs such as Skrillex, A-Trak, Diplo, and more. The club is huge with an outdoor patio having it’s own DJ, to a gorgeous theater style main room with a second level balcony overlooking the floor. Hovering over the stage were three large screens for visuals along with lasers shooting across the crowd.

Upon entering the venue we could tell that it was more of a younger crowd attending the event. All that meant was the energy was high nonstop through to the end of the night. Unfortunately we got to the event towards the end of the Mighty Fools set but even with that last 10 minutes they were killing it. There was not a single person standing still in that crowd as the Mighty Fools closed up. Tons of glow sticks were then passed out to the crowd all waiving in the air as Lucky Date took the stage.

Everyone around the venue pretty much rushed to the floor to see Lucky Date tear up the Belasco for his entire set. Not only were glow sticks waiving in the air, but confetti blasts were shot into the air, CO2 guns were shot into the crowd, and beautiful go go dancers were set up on both sides of the stage. Lucky Date not only played his own original tracks, but also several of his remixes, and recent bangers. Shuffling was going down all over the place. It was absolutely fun seeing everyone with smiles on their face getting down to Lucky Date. Below are two of my favorite Lucky Date tracks you should definitely check out.

Overall I think the night was a success and everyone there had a great time. The drinks were flowing, the music was banging, the crowd was filled with positive vibes. Less Than 3 and The Drop Factory put together one awesome event and we definitely look forward to what they bring next. For more on Lucky Date and the Mighty Fools head to the following links.
