Review: Paper Diamond, Keys N Krates, & Dan Sena @ Avalon Hollywood 1/17/13

This past Friday, Avalon played host to yet another great lineup of DJs who played some electro house, dubstep, and heavy trap. The night included many talented DJs from Paper Diamond, Dan Sena, and Keys N Krates (who unfortunately didn’t perform). As I walked into the Avalon I could hear the bass pounding as Dan Sena threw down some heavy dubstep. I could feel the dance floor shaking and it definitely got me hyped to catch Paper Diamond for my second time.

Around midnight Alexander Botwin, other wise known as Paper Diamond took the stage and I was ready to get down with his trap and hip-hop beats. Paper Diamond sure had a heavy set playing songs like Dillon Francis’ “Bootleg Fireworks (The Rebirth)” and Zeds Dead’s “High Five” which exploded threw the speakers and had the crowd super pumped up. The visuals during Paper Diamond were completely awesome as they displayed a giant caricature of Paper Diamond’s face bouncing around. Some other tracks during his set that stood out to me were Miguel’s “Do You (Cashmere Cat Remix)” and the DJ Snake remix to Aluna George’s “You Know You Like It.”

Paper Diamond made sure to keep interacting with the crowd and told everyone to throw diamonds up in the sky as we kept raging into the night. After Paper Diamond’s set we were supposed to have Keys N Krates perform but unfortunately we got the disappointing news that someone had stolen their laptops from their green room right before their set. Keys N Krates issued a statement via Facebook with the entire situation as well as apologizing for not being able to play. We wish them the best to recover all their belongings and if you know anything please speak up. While the news with Keys N Krates was very upsetting the rest of the night was a blast.
