On Monday August 13th, Playhouse Hollywood and Corona Light welcomed Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano to Electric Beach; coming off of an awe inspiring, albeit short set at EDC earlier this year they threw down in true house fashion. For the full review click through the break.
Playhouse was absolutely rammed, with opening DJ Anthony Shah whipping the crowd into a dancing frenzy early in the night. Drop the Beatz was able to speak to the Dutch duo before their set and they promised a true house-head experience and deliver that they did. Starting the night right with the Franky Rizardo & Roul & Doors hit ‘Blackout’, the duo did not disappoint, creating an unfathomable energy that lasted their entire set.
Early on they dropped the now classic, Rolling in the Deep opting for the house remix superbly done by Pierre Cardin, to an uproarious reaction from the crowd that saw all in attendance singing along, with the notable inclusion of the Dj’s themselves. Later on we were treated to an unreleased personal mash-up of SHM ‘Greyhound‘ and Justice vs. Simian ‘We Are Your Friends‘, which while new to this reviewer was well received by the crowd and which in my opinion, worked well to breath fresh new life into the often used ‘We Are Your Friends.’
Monday Social at Playhouse has been host to numerous top performers, and like their predecessors Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano brought a little of the European experience of decadence and dance to Hollywood, taking those in attendance on a ride we all won’t soon forget.
