On May 12, 2012 we made a trip to the historic Hollywood Palladium where many great acts and artist have performed from the likes of Guns N Roses to Jay Z. More recently a lot of EDM acts have been thrown at The Hollywood Palladium and this time we had Steve Angello the owner of Size Records as well as one-third of the Swedish House Mafia. Angello was joined by his Size Matter crew of AN21 & Max Vangeli and Junior Sanchez as well as contest winners Minaya & Vikus. A contest was held before the event in which Steve Angello had DJs submit a 10 minute mix and the winner would open for his show. Insomniac Events is all about the experience and the stage set-up for the night was spectacular. Two large LED screens, flashing lights, lasers, confetti, shooting fog machines, and one of the loudest speaker systems I’ve heard made for one amazing night. We were very excited about seeing the Size Matters crew but even more excited for the three hour set Steve Angello had ready for us. Unfortunately we got there late and only caught the last 15 mins of An21 & Max Vangelli but you could tell they had the crowd going nuts with a packed dance floor full of raging kids. When Steve Angello graced us with his presence he was representing the west coast by wearing the LA Dodgers hat showing how he loves this city.
Angello opened with Swedish House Mafia’s latest track “Greyhound” and played all there hits like “One”, their remix to Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” as well as Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso’s “Calling.” Steve Angello’s set wouldn’t be complete without playing other great tracks like Dada Life’s “Kick Out The Epic Motherfu**er”, Tommy Trashes remix to Steve Aoki’s “Ladi Dadi”, along with Axwell’s edit to “In My Mind” by Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl. Overall the entire event was a success and the party didn’t stop till 4am. The energy of the crow was ridiculous and whether you were in the dance floor or watching from the back, everyone was dancing. Angello ended the night with Knife Party’s remix to “Save The World” in which everyone sang together as one. Insomniac always knows how to put together the greatest events and we look forward to partying with everyone at the next. (Sorry about the sound quality in the videos. We weren’t kidding when we said their sound system was loud).
